The River Detectives

In 2023 and 2024, one of our partners, the Cateran Ecomuseum, embarked on a series of projects involving community scientists and historians who investigated how we managed our rivers, bogs and lochens in the past and how this knowledge might help us take better care of them in the future. One focused especially on the Ericht. You can find out more about what each of these four groundbreaking projects discovered here, including information on how the waters of the Ericht were managed in the past that and how those practices are still having an impact now.

We are planning to develop the River Detectives role in the future by offering opportunities for local people to get involved in a major participatory monitoring strand of the River Ericht Catchment Restoration project. More details soon.
